Jamie sank into his desk chair.
"I want to. I'm trying. Doctor Drake recommended Narcotics Anonymous. It's a support group kind of thing. I can't really explain it, but with Maddie's house arrest... I haven't gone yet."

"She wont even let you go to something that will help you?" Ronnie asked, astounded.

"She's trying this new parental approach. I mean, Maddie never gave a shit about me before. The only time she noticed I existed was when I did something wrong. I only mattered when we were fighting. She never even realized I was living on the streets." Jamie replied bitterly.
"But I get thrown into a coma by drugs I'd been stashing in her house and my existence matters. She's all into controlling my life and making rules and shit."

Ronnie frowned. "That sucks." She said. She was sorry for him, but she knew that wasnt the thing to say.
"So... The drugs. The coma. The lockdown. Thats all." She half asked half processed out loud.

"Yeah. That's why you haven't heard from me since you got back." Jamie replied sulkily.
He was silent for a moment, tapping his foot against the leg of his desk. Finally, he cleared his throat.
"H-How's your dad?"

Ronnie's nose wrinkled. He never stuttered. Not once in this conversations even. She had a feeling there was something he wasnt telling her, but she didnt want to press. Sure, she was a little sensitive after not speaking to him for over a month, but that didnt mean she should but him through more shit.
"He's... better." She said, scratching her ear. He wasnt really better... not worse yet, but not better. They had to double the treatments since the cancer spread even more. He was coughing up blood regularly, and Jonah had to stay out of the house so much, Ronnie was contemplating sending him back home.

Jamie knew she was lying. "I'm sorry."
And he meant it. Human nature created an automatic response, but he meant it.

She smiled. From him, it was true, and it surprised her that she actually needed that response.
"I missed you." Ronnie responded simply.

Hesitation seemed to be Jamie's new thing, but in the end he moved to the bed beside Ronnie.
"I missed you too." He sighed, gently brushing her hair out of her eyes.

ROnnie melted at his touch. As much as she wanted her resolve to keep, it was gone in a second. For one moment in time, every worry she'd had was gone.

Ronnie smiled, loving the fact that this wasnt the movie-esk, perfect kiss that the girls dreamed about. But it was exactly what she'd always wanted. It was a sloppy, i-havent-kissed-you-in-6-weeks-and-im-planning-on-taking-advantage-of-it-now, needy, no thinking kiss. Wrapping her arms behind his head, she pulled him down to her, wanting more contact.

It was perfect. This was what a kiss was supposed to feel like. Warm, inviting, full of sparks and magic, and above all else - needy, passionate, encompassing.
Before he realized what he was doing, Jamie had eased Ronnie onto her back. He wasn't being forceful - he was gentle.

Ronne ran her hands through his hair. She never expected that this would feel so good.

The sound of a smashing plate one floor below reminded Jamie that they weren't alone in the house. Feeling immensely frustrated, he pulled back from Ronnie and sat up.
"I'm sorry." He breathed heavily.
