Bentley sat under a tree in the courtyard... Not really doing anything. One would think he was watching people from underneath his large sunglasses, but alas, he was blind. He only used the glasses to hide his cataract-ridden pupils, something he was rather ashamed of.
He didn't mind being blind... But he didn't really want to advertise it.

Lucas walked across the courtyard to where Bentley sat and dropped his bookbag beside him.
"You're really soaking up this 'I wear sunglasses at night 'cause the sun never sets on a badass' thing, aren't you? I admit, it's a good cover."

"I hate it." Ben muttered back, barely opening his mouth to speak.
He didn't need vision to tell that he was speaking to Lucas, one of his only friends.
"Leather is really uncomfortable. But I'm told it completes the look."

"Switch to denim?" Lucas suggested, taking a seat beside his friend.
"Or break the leather in. Use it like a punching bag and it'll soften up."

Bentley shrugged lightly.
"I don't really care, I'd rather not wear it anyways..."
He took the sunglasses off, keeping his eyes closed, and bounced the cheap plastic on his knee.
"But enough about me, what've you been up to?"

"Nothing really. Report cards are out this week and I just found out I'm failing English."
Lucas opened his bookbag and pulled out a bag of chips. "I mean, seriously. I'm a genius, but I'm failing my own language."

Ben flipped the glasses back open and slid them onto the bridge of his nose.
"Does it make you feel worse that the blind kid who really can't read is doing better than you?" Bentley joked, hoping Lucas wouldn't take it the wrong way.

Lucas scarfed a few chips, then passed the bag into Ben's hand.
"Brail, psh. What a cheap way to get an A."

Ben grabbed a few chips, and paused with them in his hand, let out a breath, then put them in his mouth... His way of making sure he wasn't gonna miss and crush potato chips all over his cheekbone. He held the bag back out.
"Braille's harder than it looks... Well, feels."

"Maybe I should learn it. I bet I'd be able to read that way." Lucas grumbled, taking the chip bag and stuffing more into his mouth.
"I bet it'd work. Maybe."

"Takes a lot of focus... I've read pages for a few minutes, making sure I felt it all right."

"Alright, fine. Forget the braille." Lucas crumpled up the chip bag and threw it into the nearest trash can.
"I'll be an illiterate genius. No problem."

Bentley held his hand out for the chip bag.
"Real geniuses only need numbers anyways."

Lucas pulled a second bag of chips out of his book bag and passed it to Bentley.
"Keep that one for yourself. If I keep eating that crap, I'll never be able to take on Morris for the title."

"You look fine to me." Ben replied with a laugh at his own little joke, pulling the bag open.
"Aren't boxers supposed to bulk up anyways?"
