Ronnie sat at the shore, her toes dipped into the alt water, her knees to her chest. She was wearing torn up jeans, and a band t-shirt that didnt agree with the sun, considering it was black. But she was comfortable. Her hair fell down her back, and she twisted the one purple streak in her hair as she thought about life and her family. She rested her head back, taking in the warmth.

Jamie stood in the water, waves crashing over his legs and threatening to knock him backwards. The last time he was in the ocean was a year ago to the date, and it wasn't a pretty incident.
But this time was different. Jamie wasn't drunk, and he knew how to swim now.
And so he stood there, in nothing but his cargo shorts and sneakers with his shoulder length hair sticking to the wind.

Ronnie sighed, rolling her now wet pant legs up. The waves got her and he wasn't pleased about it.

Call it a hunch, but Jamie had a feeling there was somebody else out on this vacant beach besides him.
He turned his head over his shoulder and saw an excruciatingly attractive girl sitting with her feet in the water.
"Okay then."

Ronnie turned to her right and saw him, and rolled her eyes and looked away.
"Take a picture." She rolled her eyes.

"I would, but I pawned my camera last week." Jamie replied, walking back towards her.
"I can honestly say I've never seen you before. Wait. Have I ever seen you before?"

Ronnie laughed, shaking her head. "So you can honestly say you've never seen me, but you're asking me if you've ever seen me? Interesting."

Jamie smiled.
"I'm not always the most sober of people, but I made you laugh. That's a plus."

Ronnie shrugged, feeling a bit awkward about the sober comment. "To answer your question, no, you might not have seen me around. I moved here only a couple months ago." She looked back out at the ocean.

Jamie ran a hand through his hair.
"Welcome to Pasadena, or should I say the middle of nowhere? I'm Jamie."

"Cool." She nodded, drawing circles in the sand.

Jamie ran his fingers through his hair again.
"And your name is...?"

Ronnie raised an eyebrow towards the water. "Oh, so that's what I'm supposed to follow that up with. My name." She nodded. A small smile forming on her lips. "I understand."

Now it was Jamie's turn to roll his eyes.
"Sarcasm. I dig it."

Ronnie looked up at him, squinting in the sunlight. "Don't you have better things to do in your day besides hitting on me?"
